About the Project

We are partnering with a technology startup building an AI-powered data intelligence platform for private clubs, helping operators unify information from across their business and turn it into actionable insights.

The platform brings together analytics, reporting, forecasting, membership intelligence, and AI-driven recommendations to give club leadership a clearer and more reliable view of business performance. The product is currently in MVP with select partner clubs and is moving toward a broader production release.

A core part of the product is its ability to reason over real business data. The AI needs to provide answers and recommendations grounded in the underlying numbers, making accuracy, validation, and trust fundamental requirements rather than optional enhancements.

The team is looking for an AI-focused application developer who will take ownership of the AI experience end-to-end . From the application code and model interactions to validation, testing, business logic, and what ultimately reaches the customer.

Role and Responsibilities

• Own the development and evolution of AI capabilities across the application, from model integration and backend logic to the user-facing experience.
• Build AI-powered features that analyze business and membership data and turn it into clear, actionable insights for club operators.
• Develop an AI assistant capable of answering user questions and performing controlled actions within the application.
• Design reliable data flows that ensure AI-generated insights are grounded in accurate, verifiable business data.
• Build mechanisms to validate the numbers and data sources used by AI-generated responses before presenting them to users.
• Define appropriate fallback behavior when AI responses cannot be sufficiently validated or trusted.
• Develop prompts, model interactions, tool usage, and application logic required to deliver reliable AI functionality.
• Build and maintain automated evaluation suites using fixed test cases, expected outputs, and measurable quality criteria.
• Evaluate and compare different models, prompts, and AI approaches based on quality, latency, and cost.
• Design AI features that can safely interact with application functionality and execute actions within clearly defined boundaries.
• Work extensively with SQL and analytical data to understand how business metrics should be interpreted and surfaced to users.
• Collaborate closely with data engineering to ensure AI systems receive reliable and well-structured data.
• Partner directly with the CTO and product owner to translate business requirements into practical AI product capabilities.
• Monitor AI behavior in production and investigate cases where outputs are inaccurate, misleading, or inconsistent with the underlying data.
• Continuously improve AI quality, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency as the platform scales.
• Use modern AI coding tools extensively while maintaining strong engineering judgment about where AI-assisted development is appropriate and where human review is essential.
• Contribute to the broader architecture and engineering practices of an early-stage AI product.

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production software products.
• Strong professional experience with TypeScript.
• Strong experience with NestJS and Next.js.
• Proven experience shipping AI-powered features to real customers, beyond prototypes, scripts, or notebooks.
• Experience owning an AI feature end-to-end, including prompts, data structures, model interactions, application logic, and failure handling.
• Strong understanding of how to ground AI-generated responses in structured business data and verify the correctness of the information used by the model.
• Experience building automated tests and evaluation frameworks for AI outputs using defined test cases and expected results.
• Experience comparing AI models and prompts based on factors such as quality, cost, and latency.
• Experience building AI assistants that can take actions, not simply generate text.
• Strong SQL skills and comfort working with analytics and business data.
• Experience identifying and resolving AI-related issues in production environments.
• Strong product mindset and ability to understand what a metric or data point actually means to the person using it.
• Comfortable working in an early-stage environment with high ownership, ambiguity, and rapid iteration.
• Extensive experience using AI coding tools as part of the daily development workflow, with good judgment around their limitations.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience building analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data-intensive products.
• Experience with forecasting, predictive analytics, or recommendation systems.
• Experience building AI systems that reason over financial, operational, membership, or other business data.
• Experience with OpenRouter.
• Previous experience with NestJS and Next.js in production environments.

• Experience owning or optimizing the AI infrastructure cost associated with customer usage.
• Experience working on products where data accuracy and trust are critical to customer adoption.
• Experience in an early-stage startup where you were responsible for taking an AI feature from concept through production.

English Communication

• Strong professional English skills are required. You will work closely with the CTO, product leadership, and engineering team in an English-speaking environment.
• You should be able to communicate complex technical ideas clearly, discuss product requirements, participate actively in technical discussions, and explain AI behavior and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong written English is also important for technical documentation, collaboration, code reviews, and communicating AI-related decisions and findings.
